Short version

Meg has no account and no server that stores your meetings. Audio is never saved. Transcripts, summaries and notes stay on your Mac until you publish. To write a summary, the cloud AI you pick receives the transcript and the meeting’s calendar title, time and people; On-device keeps it on your Mac. The app sends us only your license key and app version, to check the license and updates. This website sets no cookies.

What leaves your Mac, and when

Everything Meg can send off your Mac, and when.

What leaves your Mac, and when
ItemWhat happens to it
AudioNever saved, never sent.
TranscriptSent to your AI only if you pick a cloud AI, together with the calendar title, time and people.
CalendarRead-only, from Google or Outlook, through your own sign-in. Names, times and people help write your notes and appear at the top of the file when you publish.
SummaryStays on your Mac until you publish.
My notesNever sent to the AI or to coding tools. Goes into a publish only if you tick it.
Published fileGoes to the repo you pick, through Meg’s GitHub App, after you have seen the exact file. The App sees only the repos you chose. [owner: list the App’s permissions]
Coding toolsRead on the Mac through meg-mcp. Your coding tool’s AI provider sees what it reads.
License checkYour license key and app version, at activation. [owner: does Meg check again later?]
Update checkYour app version, with your license key once activated. [owner: the trial’s update check conflicts with 9.2, which says nothing is sent until a key is entered; decide, then make both texts match]
Crash reportsOnly if you choose to send one.
First-run downloads[owner: does Meg download a speech or On-device model on first run, from which host, and how large is it?]

Every connection Meg makes

Run Little Snitch or LuLu? This is the list to compare against. [owner: exact host names]

  • Our license and update host: your license key and app version.
  • Your AI provider, if you pick a cloud AI: the transcript and the meeting’s calendar title, time and people.
  • GitHub, when you publish: the file you picked, through Meg’s GitHub App.
  • Google or Microsoft, if you connect a calendar: read-only, through your own sign-in.

Check it yourself

Three commands to run in Terminal.

Your meetings, as plain Markdown.

The checksum should match the one on the download page.

$shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/Meg-1.0.0.dmg

Gatekeeper’s check of the disk image.

$spctl -a -t open -vvv --context context:primary-signature ~/Downloads/Meg-1.0.0.dmg

Meg is made by [entity], [address]. Contact: [contact address].

2. The app

Audio is never saved. Transcripts, summaries and notes stay on your Mac until you publish. The app sends us only your license key and app version, to check the license and updates. It has no analytics and no account. The table above lists everything else Meg can send, and when.

3. This website

This site sets no cookies and loads nothing from third parties. The fonts are hosted by us. We count page views and download starts on our own server, without cookies. Our server keeps access logs: [owner: what they hold and for how long].

4. Buying Meg

Checkout happens on [owner: merchant]’s own page, not on this site, and this site loads no script from it. The merchant receives [owner: what it gets]. We receive [owner: what we get].

5. Services you connect

Your AI provider, GitHub, Google and Microsoft each have their own privacy policy. Meg sends them only what the table above says.

6. Your rights

[counsel: your rights under the GDPR, how to use them, and the supervisory authority]. To use them, write to [contact address].

7. Changes

Every change to this page is dated at the top. [counsel: how we tell you about material changes]

8. Contact

[contact address]. [owner: postal address, if required]

Never lose the thread.
